A green gift

My friend Bridget asked if I wanted a fern. Today she dug it from her garden.

And gave it to me.

I think it grew as it came out of the soil.

Now I will go and repot it so it can survive the winter in my upstairs bathroom.

Hopefully it will be alive to go outside into my garden next summer.

Thank you Bridget.

Car-E plays

When Car-E plays it’s hard to follow him with the camera.

I do my best as he flys around the kitchen tossing a bottle ring.

He played until he wore himself out.

He ended his morning sleeping in the sunshine on the porch.

Lending to a 9-year-old

This 1986 column features Becky (Rebecca).

It brought a smile to me today as I remembered this family story. I’m so glad I saved it in my column.

You don’t have to have a weekly column to save family stories. Just pick up a pen and write your memories down. Later they will bring you joy … of course, others will not always bring joy, but family stories will brighten your day.

Talking sandhil cranes

As I took Sunny for his early morning constitutional we came across these three cranes.

I was waiting for them to fly away so I could take a video of them taking off, but they chose to walk and talk.

Nature is always interesting and I like having these cranes as neighbors.
