Car-E the kitten is playing again

I dropped a pencil and Car-E claimed it as a toy.

The hard part is to catch her on video before she changes her mind. Too often as I get the video recording, Car-E sees me and rushes to climb up my pant leg.

I hope you enjoy this short video.

Multiplying neighbors

I’ve known for a long time that a raccoon has come to finish the food I leave for the outside cats. I’ve caught her on our critter camera coming onto the porch.

From September 2018

I call her a female, but I really didn’t know for sure, until last night.

Mrs. Raccoon brought out the family just before dark last night–because of the poor lighting, the photos are not the best.

At first, I thought I saw a cat by our maple tree, but then there was another. All the kits were having a ball climbing up and down the tree while their mother came for her evening snack–not much was left, but she ate any crumb she found.

It was hard to count all the kits. At first, I saw three, then four and then five!

I didn’t get a photo of it, but a sixth baby raccoon joined its siblings and mother just as the scurried away into the darkness.

That mother has her hands full. I’m just happy that raccoons only have one litter a year.

Today I added a little color

I took this photo a while back but didn’t post it.

I love irises. Too bad they don’t last all summer long.

I would not mind having them around longer, not just for the spring.

Too soon they are gone.

A little greenery

Flowers are nice, but I also like some greenery.

Right now the ferns living around Sunnybook Farm are at their height of beautiful greenness.

They will not look prettier than they do today. So I thought I’d share a photo here.

Sometimes storms knock them to the ground, but I hope they will remain upright for the future weeks to come.

Ferns and hostas decorate the gardens here. It’s may not be easy being green, but green is a lovely color to enjoy.

Weekend helpers

Sometimes I can just sit back and watch someone else work. This past weekend that’s just what I did.

On Saturday, son Russell and his son Harrison came for a visit.

Harrison and Russell working together.

Russell put in new belts, starter, battery, and I don’t know what all in the cart.

At the end of the day, Russell took a ride on his dad’s zero-turn mower.

Last year, Russ built the framework for the mower so his dad could do one of his favorite things, mow. Bob was so pleased that he could actually work all last summer because of this creation of Russell’s.

I didn’t know this, but after all that he built for Bob last year, this ride on June 6th was the first time Russell drove the machine himself and he enjoyed zooming around the yard, too.

Sunday, Rob and family arrived for a visit and a bit of work, too.

While Rob did some needed weed whacking, Caleb mowed.

Caleb got to a few patches of grass on our mound system that I missed.

Meanwhile, Aryana got to know my new kitten.

We kept our distance, visiting outside, but that worked.

I wore myself out just being happy.
