Here chick, chick, chick

I had one slice of bread and broke it up for my hens.

They came running when I called them, both the old girls and the young ones.

Watch as they steal and run with little pieces of bread.

These two came begging for more, looking in the kitchen window.

Usually, it’s cats looking in the window, but not today–the other day I had one chicken looking in and one barn cat. Both wanted a treat. The chicken doesn’t care what they get, even a cat treat. The cat would turn its nose up at chicken feed though.

They are all fun to watch.

Early walk down the lane

Many of recent walks were down the road because the grass was dew-covered.

Today the farm lane was dry and Sunny decided that’s where we were heading.

He was on the lookout for deer as we saw one peek out of the corn one day this week.

No luck on the deer hunt.

But cranes flew overhead.

A nice early morning walk.

Too tired to play

Car-E was more than ready to jump into my grocery bags to help me unpack this morning.

He worked so hard Car-E wore himself out.

First he went into a paper bag and then he attacked a plastic bag. Finally, he gave up helping and attempted to play with a cat toy.

But he was too tired to stand up.

Poor Car-E.

I should add that soon he was leaping about the kitchen again. He only needed a little breather.

The potato chase

Today, Care-E really was playing with a potato, a tiny one.

I think he likes it because, like the avocado pit, it wabbles and goes different directions.

I included two videos because they are so short.

Car-E is too fast for me.

But he sure was having fun.

The sad saga of the picnic table

On August 2, I ordered a folding picnic table (Store name withheld at this point). It was to be delivered on the 8th, and then the 12, and then 13th….. Finally, it was to come today, the 17th, between 10 and 12.

A huge box was delivered by a freight company. It had my name on it. I couldn’t wait to open it and unfold my table–no assembly was required.

I planned on eating my lunch outside on my new table.

I couldn’t wait. I had anticipated this picnic table for weeks. I took photos of this big event as I planned on sharing my purchase here, with you.

It was extremely heavy, and I struggled to get it out of the box.

It wasn’t my folding picnic table.

It took all my strength to get that two-sided, 110 pound table top back in the box.

I wanted to cry.

Frustrated, I called the store, but heard the hold message and then went on their web site but was told to call the 800 number. Finally, calling I sat on hold for forty minutes.

They said my picnic table came straight from the manufacturer. They couldn’t understand how there was a mistake.

I’m to wait for a call from them to pick this THING back up–It’s too heavy for me to move it. Once returned, I get my refund.

But what I really want is my Picnic Table!

The sad saga of the folding picnic table continues.
