Harvest

Last year, Bob sat where I am sitting as I write today. I’m at his seat at our kitchen table, looking out the window.

Our land renters are here today, starting to combine their corn from Sunnybook Farm.

This makes me sad as Bob watched as soon as they came in fall 2019 until dark. No, that’s wrong. Bob watched their lights moving across our fields after dark. It was the first year Bob hadn’t farmed.

He went outside and took our cart into the field to get a better look at the work, visiting with one or more of the Maass family as they worked.

This photo was taken earlier in 2019. Bob watched that summer as our sons and sons-in-law cleaned up a fallen tree from the cornfield after a storm.

It is good seeing the work getting done. I’m sure Bob is watching with me.

Okay that’s enough for today.

+Creativity questions

A lot of the times, I went wild with crafts. After spending money on supplies I would lose interest.

I still admire what my friends accomplish and yearn to do as well. That feeling often gets me into trouble.

These days most of my creativity stays focused on writing.

I have been cutting fabric for a project but I haven’t sewn anything yet. Will have to wait to see how that all works out.

Cat at the window

Car-E almost seems gentle in this video, but if he had a chance to leap at the birds outside I’m sure he’d be more of a wildcat.

His voice was even quiet as he considers his prey.

A Dad story

My dad loved telling stories and he always had an audience.

When Dad told his memories of his childhood, he added actions and vocal embellishments which made them special.

Even though Dad’s written stories don’t have as much flair, they are very special and fun, too.

Here’s one I recorded for today.

His Ma tried to show concern for her little boy, but a smile was on her face.

I adapted this story for my novel Chicken Charlie’s Year, which can be found at Sissy’s in Seymour, or on Amazon.com. It’s an easy read as each chapter is a story in itself. (Think Christmas gift.)

Thanks for the laugh

I’m sharing a card today that was sent to me by Patti.

It’s a Shoebox card and made me laugh.

Maybe you need a laugh today, too.

Thanks, Patti. It’s always great getting real mail, especially a funny card.

This really fits Car-E. He’s always looking for exercise.
