Old lawnmower

My son-in-law David, Rachel’s husband, worked hard on this old mower of Bob’s. He bought a new engine for it, installed it, and then fiddled with all the wires and controls, trying to get it going.

For a time, it looked like a lost cause, but David wasn’t giving up. Eventually, he got the engine going and then he had to get it rolling. Bob had stuck it on a pallet with the front wheels off the wood. The machine had to back up, but it refused over and over. That’s when I found a booklet about the mower. It gave David the information he needed to get both wheels turning together.

That filthy machine has been moved from the farm and hopefully, it will do a lot of mowing around their cabin.

It would be a three-hour drive to the cabin.

I’m sure Bob would approve and be happy our youngest married a determined man.

Early Balloon Ascension

I was up early and suddenly remembered that the balloons were in Seymour this weekend. After feeding my pets, I drove to town.

As the sun rose in the sky, the balloons were unfolded and grew with air, first cool and finally hot air.

They went east, so not toward my home this year.

When all the balloons were up in the air, the area around the takeoff grounds seemed so quiet.

I did not follow them, but went home for my breakfast.

Early morning viewing is the best.

Past Burger Fest

One year we had balloons land on our farm two days in a row, a record as we are northwest of Seymour. They usually don’t come this way.

Below, the pink balloon was flown without a basket. The pilot rode the gas tank!

It floated in soon after our wheat harvest was finished.

Burgers and balloons will come to Burger Fest on August 14, 2021, in Seymour Wisconsin.

This was 2014

Children of all ages love the parade. It starts this year at 10:45.

One wild cat

Car-E figured out that the gizmo held in my hand made the red dot on the floor. Today he really wanted to play and he went for the pointer.

This video was taken after the disaster he caused.

My little TV table ended up tipping when Car-E leaped for the pointer. My tea ended up on the floor.

As Car-E fell with the table, he fell down my leg and used his claws. Ouch!

Crazy thing is, I still love him.

Yesterday’s tornado weather report

As I type, a new round of bad weather is in my area. Thunder and lightning are across Wisconsin and Illinois. Warnings are out for nasty weather again.

This shows where I saw a tornado yesterday.

Luckily it didn’t come due east. Now, dark skies have me looking heavenward again.

Let’s hope this storm isn’t as eventful as yesterday. A tornado watch is on until 8 pm.

I am also keeping track of family around Wisconsin and Illinois. Everyone is under weather warnings.

Fingers crossed and prayers today.

Until next time, that’s it from Sunnybook Farm.
