Seymour Glows Tonight!

It’s the 31st Annual Burger Fest in Seymour Wisconsin this weekend.

Tonight there will be a hot air balloon glow by Rockledge Park. This will also happen Saturday night. Here are a few photos I’ve taken of past events.

My effort at being creative as the balloons take shape.
Photographer Steve Kemp was in the fire truck basket taking photos from a different angle.
Come be part of the crowd.

Tomorrow is the 8 am Bun run and World’s largest Hamburger Parade at 11. And don’t forget the Ketchup slide at 4.

I’ll be helping in the museum in the afternoon on Saturday. Stop on in.

Green Bay Botanical Garden

There are many pretty places in Wisconsin. One that is not far from our home is the Green Bay Botanical Garden.

One lovely corner (there are many lovely corners) is this spot in the Kress Oval Garden. The statue is of George Kress playing his violin for his wife.

This photo was taken late in the season.

I always like it as it depicts love in later years….Too bad Bob doesn’t play the violin, or any instrument for that matter. If we ever had a statue of us together, we would be sitting on the bench together.

Another photo that was taken late in the season.

This old apple tree reminds me of those living on our farm as it has seen many years. A nice place to stop and ponder the ups and downs of life.

quick quiz

This photo was taken during Camp Manzke last weekend. Can you identify the word depicted?

Today was another Saturday we were happy we didn’t have campers in our backyard. A Fast-moving thunderstorm that came through the area a bit ago would have raised havoc with campers and tents. Good thing it was just Bob and me here when it went through and we were safe in the house.

Camp Manzke

It was cloudy when our campout started on our farm Thursday evening. One tent went up, but Rebecca and Andy decided to wait for the rest of the family to arrive on Friday before staying the night.

The rest of the weekend’s weather was near perfect, a little hot, a little windy, but near perfect.

This is what our backyard looked like by Friday evening. Four families divided into tents and popup camper. One tent had just girls and the popup had just boys. A third tent had one teenager.

Bob and I stayed up past our bedtime to sit around the campfire with our family. We did not go into any tent. We went up to our bedroom where we slept with our dog and two cats. (Actually, we left Sunny our dog to spend the night in the kitchen with Rachel’s dog, Jade. That way they both had company.)

Early Saturday, we went to the Outagamie County Fair to see the animals.

In the afternoon the kids had a water balloon fight.

Sitting under the night sky, seeing shooting stars, and being with family was the best.
