Children go wild

April 1986 was when Russell received the scar on his hand. How do I know? I wrote about it in a column.

Just listen today and find out how many of our children got hurt that spring.

Maybe someone will tell me how Russell’s accident really happen, but probably not.

Russell ManzkeI clearly remember how I got that scar. I was curious if the windows in the chicken coup in the barn would open, so I wrestled one open and discovered they did go up. It stayed up long enough for me to say, “They DO open!” then it slammed back down, shattered, and took a chunk of my knuckle with it. I’m not sure what story I gave you. I probably blamed Rob.

Rocking the farm

Rebecca has a thing for farm rocks. She uses them as a base for her copper trees and she also uses them to decorate her yard.

When she had a day off of work, daughter Rebecca came to the farm and used her energy to collect rocks.

I lifted a few rocks, but mostly I kept a lookout for rocks worth choosing.

I only mashed my fingers once.

The video below is different and I don’t know what I did to get the special effects.

A helpful cat

Car-E liked staying under the sheet and it took some wrangling to get him out.

What to give Daddy for his birthday?

This column tells about one of Bob’s birthdays and what our young children decided to give him in 1989.

The gifts that Robby, Becky, Russell, and Rachel gave their Dad that year tell a lot about each of them. Just listen and see what I mean.

Today, gift giving also shows my children’s personality. After all these years, they haven’t changed too much, well, maybe Rob has.

A boxed Car-E cat

I was about to break down this box when Care-E discovered it.

Cats love boxes. Once Car-E tried fitting into a much smaller box. He gave up when he figured out only part of him fit inside. Today the box was plenty big for his bulk.

Watch and enjoy.

After playing in this box, Car-E ran upstairs. It sounded like a horse tromped up and then down again.

If there’s an odd noise in the house you can bet Car-E is the cause.
