Six inches of snow!

It kept coming down overnight. This morning I stepped out of our back door to see the total.

I’d call it about six inches. It may move around more now as the wind is picking up.

The wine bottle tree Bob made a few years ago shows off the snow.

Eventually, I will get the bulk of our driveway plowed out. But for now, I moved some away from the door and fence.

The good thing is the snow has ended. There are no storms in the forecast for the next few days.

There’s time to recover and watch it blow. ….. Wait a minute! Blowing isn’t good.

A snowy dog

Sunny loves the snow. With new flakes falling, he comes in covered with a blanket of white.

I get a kick out of his antics, except when he comes inside and shakes the snow off before I can towel him off. I guess he wants to share the snow with me.

Sunny is good company. He stays close to me, going with me from room to room in the house. Of course, he’s always up for a treat, which I provide–but not too much.

“Good, Sunny Boy!”

It’s snowing

We’re not having a blizzard, but it is snowing. So far, it’s a gentle snow. There’s no wind blowing it around. So as a snowstorm goes this is a pleasant one.

I was amazed by the amount of snow that fell today….and is still falling.

I took Sunny outside just to check out the amount together. These are two photos I manage to take before heading back inside.

Sunny’s ready to go back inside the house.

Sunny is standing on the edge of our driveway. I think we’ve gotten enough snow, but it’s still falling.

Hopefully, it will be over soon.

I shoveled a little around the door. I’m sure our neighbor will snowblow here after the snow stops. No use starting while it’s still snowing.

Watching it snow

It is snowing again.

I’m worried about family traveling to Seymour this weekend. The snow keeps coming, making roads iffy.

When I go outside I find the gently falling flakes beautiful. I just wish the snow wouldn’t coat the roads and make them slippery. The land welcomes the blanket of white, not the roads or drivers.

Our flowering crab tree in all its winter glory.

I just want everyone to be safe. Driving or walking, take it easy.

Advice taken

Bob used to take food and water out to the barn for the cats that live here. He’d carry everything in one 5-gallon bucket. After a few big snowstorms, we trained the cats to come to the house for food and water.

After the change, Bob continued to carry the large bucket around. One place he took it was to the mailbox. When he had it with he could drop all the mail in the bucket and not lose anything to the wind.

Mail’s here! See the delivery flag has popped.

Bob carried the bucket all winter long. He said he did this in case he fell. Because of his bad hip, if he ended up on the ground, he needed something to push up on to get up.

I started carrying a bucket with me when I go to the mailbox. Wicked winds have caught newspapers in the past. Now they are dropped safely in the bucket.

Mail is in the bucket, safe from the wind and dropping in the snow.

Bob always had great ideas…and a soft heart when it came to barn cats.
