My dear old friend, Wendel

Some people may remember my friend, Wendel. He was my constant companion in the late 80s and 1990s.

I hope you enjoy hearing about Wendel today.

Wendel is still a good friend, even if he hasn’t seen the light of day for a while.

Maybe our friendship will become a book. I’ve been thinking about a picture book about Wendel for a long time. I’ll ask him if he’s ready. If Wendel agrees, I’ll start working on a new project with my friend, Wendel.

Halloween costume suggestions

I’ve never bought a Halloween costume. Only homemade for me, which was a problem when I didn’t have time to sew, or even cared to sew.

This column from 1981, has children asking for the impossible.

Good thing they settled for easy homemade, slap-together costumes.

No matter what they were, they ended up with too much candy.

Another farmer prayer

Prayers on farms never seem to end. I’ve written about praying before and probably will again.

This one is from October 1983.

Weather wishes don’t change much. We farmers would love a perfect weather year, but that’s hard to come by. Still, we keep praying for one.

As I’ve said before, more prayers are sent heavenward from the seat of a tractor, combine, or in a barn than in a church. We pray where the action is, or isn’t. There’s no time to stop work and run to a church. A silent prayer anywhere gets to God just the same.

Bob’s odd sense of humor

My husband looked at the world a bit cockeyed. His humor showed by the way he laughed at odd happenings.

When I wrote this column, we had been married 9 years. I was still learning about life with Bob.

Bob really cracked me up. He was quiet but if you listened to what he mumbled you’d end up laughing.

In sharing these posts, I keep Bob close to me.

Bitten by a bug

This happens to me ever so often. The bug is the craft bug.

I hope you enjoy the aftereffects of the bite that got me back in the 80s.

I have to admit, I’ve been bitten again, but I’m not quite ready to share what my new project is, except it is something I’ve never done before.
