Turkey, turkey, TURKEY!

Sometime a family can have too many turkeys.

In this video I tell of the time we accidentally got hundreds of turkey chicks. It was all because my dad didn’t want to see them destroyed when the sender and receiver of the live chicks wouldn’t take them at the airport. As a surprise, Dad brought them home. Wow, that sure was an interesting summer.

Dad worked at United Airlines and this was one of most exciting things he ever brought home–it’s a good thing he never caught the monkey that got loose in the rafters of the building.

I’ve never raised turkeys since. From this experience I’ve found them to be extremely stupid birds.

Made it through the night

When I went to bed last night, the kitten was sound asleep.

Checking on the kitten this morning I found him still cuddled up. I was relieved he was just sleeping.

So far, so good with my new pet.

New addition

I couldn’t leave it out alone in the cold.

My new pet came inside today.

It will be 2+ weeks before the vet appointment so I’ll be keeping it separated from my other inside pets.

Funny how ‘free’ kittens end up costing dollars as soon as they go for their first vet visit.

Talking sandhil cranes

As I took Sunny for his early morning constitutional we came across these three cranes.

I was waiting for them to fly away so I could take a video of them taking off, but they chose to walk and talk.

Nature is always interesting and I like having these cranes as neighbors.

A very calm buggy horse

An Amish neighbor was riding down the road in her buggy when a line of canning company equipment went by. I didn’t think to video the huge machines, but I did get the last of the convoy. Notice that the horse attached to the buggy remained calm as the vehicles went by.

It was quite amazing to watch as the horse stood. My friend Sarah had hoped her neighbor would have turned into the driveway to get off the road, but that seemed unnecessary.

The well-trained horse did what it was supposed to do.
