A garden gift for me

I was just going for a ride with Rebecca and Andy today. The destination was the Cottage Garden Farm West of Waupaca on 54.

To my surprise, Rebecca decided I needed another garden spinner. She said the choice was mine.

I could have had a colorful one and/or a larger one, but this is the one I chose.

I am very happy, and very thankful, too.

Flat earth Cat

Barn-E is ready to knock everything off my counter and tables.

He’s unstoppable today.

When loose, things go bump onto the floor.

Upon investigation, I always find Barn-E nearby.

His adventures take him higher and higher. Where I thought knickknacks were safe, I find they are now under attack. Everything is a toy to Barn-E, even my toes.

Strawberry-rhubarb sauce recipe

The only thing I measured was the 2 cups of sugar.

A large bowl of cut or processed rhubarb, 1/2 cup water, 2 cups sugar, strawberries, and one package of strawberry Jell-O.

Bring to a boil and then cut back the heat and simmer for twenty minutes. My strawberries didn’t break down so I used a wand to blend.

I put the sauce into pint jars. The cooled jars will go into my freezer.

Enjoy on toast or even on ice cream.

Rhubarb isn’t for everyone, but if you enjoy it, this recipe is for you.

Working with rhubarb

To cut the rhubarb or to use the food processor? That’s the question.

The processed rhubarb is not as pretty as the hand-cut stalks. I will use the processed bowl of rhubarb to make a sauce for toast.

The ones cut with a knife are pretty and best used in a pie. The stalks that went through the processor are wonky chunks, They are very usable and will make a great sauce.

Hidden kittens appear

Weeks ago, the mother cat disappeared. She returned with company.

I’m not sure if all will survive, but please come and rescue one of these if anyone wants a kitten.

There are at least four. All kittens are cute.

Any help is welcome.
