Yardwork intrigues Stella

Before the heat did me in today, I took out my battery-operated weed whacker and took it around the yard.

During this time, Stella sat, tied under a tree, and watched me work.

During her next time in her dog fence, Stella had to check out my weed whacking work.

I have to keep an eye on Stella. She loves to dig holes in her yard. It’s another fun activity for her, but not for me.

Announcing my picture book production

I’m leaping ahead and publishing my picture book, All the Queen’s Crowns.

Notice the dog in the illustration below. Surprise! My late dog, Sunny is in multiple book illustrations. He’s the king’s dog. My mentor, April Cox suggested adding Sunny to my book. The story is not about a dog, but he adds to the story just the same.

This announcement is part of my Self-Publishing Made Simple class assignment. My picture book is not a secret. It is something to be celebrated. I hope you enjoy this sample and the picture book that is to come. It will make a great Christmas gift.

A garden gift for me

I was just going for a ride with Rebecca and Andy today. The destination was the Cottage Garden Farm West of Waupaca on 54.

To my surprise, Rebecca decided I needed another garden spinner. She said the choice was mine.

I could have had a colorful one and/or a larger one, but this is the one I chose.

I am very happy, and very thankful, too.

A little backyard gardening

I have numerous pairs of gardening gloves hidden around the farm. Too bad I forget to use them.

At least my hands are washable. It’s the gunk under my fingernails that is so tough to get clean.

Reminiscing

Barn-E my cat, knocked down a plastic bowl in the kitchen. The sound brought me into the room. It also refreshed this memory from my teenage years.

I hope you enjoyed this short story. I’m sure you have some of your own. Share those stories, even if they are short. They are all part of your history.

Until next time, that’s all there is from Sunnybook Farm.
