National Cat Day

Car-E when he was a sweet thing
A cat from the past, posted today because we are close to Halloween.
When the yowling starts, it’s probably these two tomcats.
Othello with his Halloween scowl.
Cruella can be a sweetie, but not always.
Car-E plays like a kitten but now he’s a big boy.

Having cats and a dog mean I have to get up in the morning, get dressed, and take care of them. Othello and Car-E sleep with me and mostly don’t fight for a prime spot. When they do fight, I cover my head and wait for calm to return. Thank goodness most of the night is peaceful.

I thought I’d give you photos of some of the cats of Sunnybook Farm for National Cat Day.

Where is Car-E today?

I heard a tiny meow coming from the closet. I had just set a box inside, but something else had slipped inside, too.

Any time I open a door, Car-E wants to go through it. He’s been locked in other rooms and closets before and I’m sure he will race past me into other spaces in the future.

I’ve had to retrace my steps when looking for Car-E the other day. His voice is tiny unless he has issues with our other cats.

Car-E is a smart cat, but he can’t resist an opened door. Maybe he’s looking for Narnia.

A cat story from long ago

Princess came into our lives, a stray. “Don’t touch that cat,” was my warning to our children. Too bad I didn’t listen to myself.

This video tells of the short life of Princess.

Poor kitty, but good mother cats who came to the rescue.

Car-E Water World

Car-E came up when I was getting a glass of water. I let the water drip, which interested him a great deal.

After I stopped the drip, Car-E went looking for more water fun.

Poor Othello wanted a drink but was kept away by Car-E’s splashing.

I put the towel down because it was the only way to let Sunny have water and not have a flood after Car-E’s play.

The unimaginable

Car-E likes to harass the senior cats in the house.

He started jumping on Othello, who is around 16. Car-E just wanted to play but Othello has never seen his play as fun. He often verbally chastized Car-E and moved away, only to be followed by the large kitten.

So I never thought I’d see the two of them sleeping together.

Maybe this was a one-time event. I don’t know, but I’m happy I had my phone with me so I could document this.

Othello doesn’t cuddle with Cruella either. He never has. If they get close, there are cat words exchanged. The best they have done is to sleep at opposite corners of my bed. So having Othello and Car-E sleeping this close was a notable event.

Hoping for other sightings like this one in the future, but I don’t expect much.
