A proud moment

The old TV was in poor shape. I had nursed it along for years. It was time for a change.

I’m so proud of all that I did today. My first problem was finding something to set the TV on. I found this bookshelf upstairs. Bringing it down was a challenge, but I managed.

Setting up the new set took some effort. After a lot of clicking, and button pushing, I got it hooked up to my wifi along with the antenna.

I’m happy to report that everything is working perfectly.

I’m very proud of myself.

Working on my art

No use sitting inside on a beautiful day.

I brought out a minimum of my art supplies, enough to keep me busy.

Stella kept me company and enjoyed the nice day, too. She’s still a puppy in training.

I might haul out more supplies next time, but that only means I have to haul them back into the house again. That’s just adding work, when all I want to do is to enjoy the last rays of summer.

Whitetail deer

It was half past six. I was late for a meeting at the library. These two crossed Cemetery Road ahead of me.

Even though I was late, I took the time to take this short video.

If you are not used to driving in the country, remember to watch for the second deer. It will come out of the ditch, following the first, and take you by surprise.

Stay alert. Stay safe. Keep an eye out for Wisconsin wildlife.

A guessing game

I know what these are. Do you?

Never poisonous and good when fried in butter, or so I’m told. I really didn’t care for the taste.

Have you ever eaten one? Would you again?

If you can’t guess. These are puffball mushrooms.

Here’s what Google said: Only young, immature puffballs are edible. The interior tissue must be soft; bread-like, and uniformly white. Once the flesh changes color and/or becomes mushy, spores are present. The mushroom is past its prime, is no longer edible, and can cause digestive problems.

So don’t go willy-nilly eating puffballs.

Quick soup for a rainy day

I can’t just have a can of soup. I always doctor it one way or another. Here’s what I did yesterday.

This is what I mixed together.

Ingredients included: 1 can of cream of chicken soup, plus 1 can of water, 1 6.5-ounce can of mushrooms, 1 small zucchini, a handful of instant brown rice, and a half cup of chopped chicken. Microwave until the rice is cooked through. If too thick, add more water.

I prefer homemade soup, but in a pinch, doctoring a can of soup will do.
