Tractor Supply chirps

Walk into the store and you’ll immediately hear them. The chicks and ducklings are for sale.

Just hearing their chirps made my day.

I stopped at Tractor Supply because I needed wild-bird seed and suet blocks. Also, I wanted a 50-pound bag of chicken layer crumbles. Of course, I couldn’t lift the large bag after my operation. That problem was easily solved. All I had to do was ask and the clerk got the bag, checked me out, and delivered everything to my car.

Too bad I couldn’t bring a few chicks home. Just taking care of my 3 hens is enough trouble for me these days.

Food update

After having my post-operative appointment today I was given the go-ahead to add soft food to my diet.

Happy day! But I must take my time, chew a lot, and not eat too much at once. More tiny meals ahead of me

Celebrating today!

Cookie time

When the weather is wicked, I have to bake. Today it was chocolate chip cookies.

I like my cookies to spread out so I used Elton Brown’s recipe, but made cookies half the size he says so I get double the cookies.

Enjoy.

Stir fry supper

Frozen veggies went into the pan for my stir fry. I think I should have used a larger pan, but it all cooked up even in this pan.Lots of veggies, but no onions so I chopped up some from my cupboard.

I added some cooked shrimp and put it all over brown rice.

A perfect combination for my supper.

Making Gazpacho

Years ago I ate a bowl of gazpacho (cold tomato vegetable soup). Today I finally made some gazpacho myself. Here are three short videos of my process. (recipe below)

Three videos were easier to upload using my DSL internet connection to Youtube than making one long video.

Yep, I tasted with the same spoon at the end. Oops. Don’t do that if you are sharing your food with others. Since no one was here to eat my gazpacho I can do what I want.

Here’s my ingredient list: 2 pounds tomatoes (I ran out of tomatoes and finished with canned diced tomatoes), 1 cucumber, 6 sm. orange or red peppers that equal regular size red pepper, 2 green onions, 2 garlic cloves, 1 jalapeno (seeds removed). Chunk veggies so easier to put in food processor. Blend in processor until well combined. Add 1/2 tsp salt and 1 TB balsamic vinegar.

Put gazpacho in refrigerator and chill. Best eaten the next day.

My gazpacho came out pretty spicy, but I like it. I’ll consider halving the jalapeno next time.
