Car-E’s new toy

My kitten will play with anything and I do mean anything.

There are a few purchased cat toys around but Car-E looses interest in them quickly. This new toy he found had him very active for at least 30 minutes.

He was playing with a potato. I had washed my harvested small spuds and I was sure he had one of them.

He scooted after it all over the kitchen, down the basement stairs, and into the laundry room.

I was afraid he’d leave it forgotten in a corner or under a piece of furniture. Just what I needed a lost potato, rotting away and stinking up the place.

Even after I picked it up, I was sure it was a potato, and then I looked closer.

His toy is an avocado pit! Found by him on the counter where I placed it before trying to sprout it.

Car-E had a lot of fun chasing this pit. I never saw him so excited about the toy.

I’ll let him play as long as he likes with this pit. At least if it gets lost, it won’t be rotting away like a potato.

And since I eat avocados, other pit-toys will follow.

Car-E goes fishing

Blue Fish, my beta, has caught the eye of Car-E.

Good thing that the fish knows to go to the bottom of the bowl whenever the kitten comes to play.

It’s also a good thing that when Car-E puts his paw in the water he reacts, quickly pulling back.

I’m pretty sure Blue Fish is safe, but I will keep an eye on Car-E when he gets close.

Car-E at play

Sometimes I have to be Car-E-free. If I’m going in and out the door, I don’t want him slipping past me.

He’s so fast! He would be out in the yard before I could stop him. To keep him safe I have to think ahead of my growing kitten.

Sometimes I lock Car-E in a room he can not escape while I’m busy. That’s usually the bathroom.

For a short time without Car-E under my feet I give him a treat in his toy.

Food is very important to this kitten. He’ll do anything for a kitty treat.

When I put a few pieces in his toy, he works hard to get at the kibble.

Car-E is an adventerous cat.

He’s is often underfoot. This is one way to distract him from getting in the way. Too bad my groceries didn’t get put away because I was too busy watching Car-E.

The clown of the house makes me laugh.

Going fishing

Car-E the kitten is interested in the fish in the fish tank.

He came close when I had the hood back to feed them today so I let him have a good look.

I thought he might take a dive in. You know the old phrase. Curiosity killed the cat.

Well, Car-E was curious, but he only touched the water. It still was interesting watching him investigate the tank.

A snapshot

A cell phone with a camera is a handy thing to have. That’s the only way I’m able to capture photos of moving critters.

Still, getting the phone out of my pocket hinders me some. If it has gone cock-eyed in my pocket, I’ll fumble with it and miss out on something cute or interesting.

I haven’t gotten many good photos of butterflies this year. Though many butterflies flutter by, I usually miss them. Only getting a blur in the air.

Yesterday, a yellow tail landed at my feet multiple times. It was almost like it wanted its photo taken. Too bad I had left the phone on the kitchen table. I didn’t even have a chance for a blurry photo.

Most photos these days are of Car-E. That kitten is cute and often seems to pose for me. He also comes out as a blur, too, because he’s very fast when scooting after a toy.

Here Car-E and Othello are. The old cat batted the kitten away and Car-E fell over like he was forcefully struck.

As soon as Othello turned his back, Car-E leaped to his feet and went playfully after Othello again, only to end up on the floor again. He may give in, but Car-E doesn’t give up.

If only I could capture all that I witness with my camera. I guess I have to be happy with the ones that I get…..

A butterfly just fluttered by my window. I think I go hunting it with my camera.

Bye for now.
